twin room hotel Telegrafo Havana

Standard twin room

Hotel Telegrafo offers 54 spacious standard rooms, combining modern décor with colonial features. The colour scheme is warm and lively, a feel which is enhanced by the abundant light let in by the large windows. The bathrooms are also modern and well appointed. Five rooms in each floor face the inner courtyard where the snack bar is located and have restored sections of the hotel’s original walls. Only street-facing rooms on the first floor have balconies.

Rooms amenities: air conditioning, satellite TV, safety deposit box, hair dryer, minibar, private bathroom, telephone.

Junior Suites: extra space and comfortable sitting rooms (and an additional bathroom) are the perks which put the Telégrafo’s Mini Suites slightly above the standards. All are street-facing and three are fitted with Jacuzzis.

Learn about Hotel Telégrafo’s history:

Cuba’s oldest hotel first opened its doors to the public around 1860, some years after the first telegraph station was established in the country. The hotel moved to its present location in 1888. Circa 1914 the hotel rooms and restaurant boasted telephones that afforded guests both national and international telephone services, at a time when even public restrooms were a rare and novel luxury.

Modern meets colonial architecture Hotel Telegrafo Havana

Combined modern and colonial architecture

The creation of a third floor in 2001, when the hotel officially re-opened for business, marks the culmination of not only the restoration efforts that began in the late 90s but also of the vertical expansion of the building, which was originally one-story high.

Inside, only the high ceilings and supporting arches offer an inkling of the establishment’s past: the lobby, re-done in a colorful, eclectic style and tastefully appointed with modern furnishings, has the feel of modern art gallery. The style carries over to the large snack bar, where the remains of the original structure contrast artfully with the contemporary decor.

The spacious and well appointed rooms; the hotel’s privileged location and great facilities (including a classy restaurant) will satisfy even the most demanding guests.
