On arrival at San Jose International airport, you will be met by our local representatives who will assist you with your private transfer to your chosen hotel.

San Jose - Tortuguero NP / Mawamba Lodge

After a two hour road transfer, stop at Guapiles for an early morning breakfast (included), then continue another hour by shuttle road transfer to La Pavona Pier and from this point, take a shuttle boat transfer to Mawamba Lodge. You will be able to enjoy plenty of birdlife as well as crocodiles, sloths, monkeys, etc... until reaching your chosen accommodation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided complimentary walking tour of Tortuguero town.

• 2 nights standard room on full board basis at Mawamba Lodge – Tortuguero National Park.

Meet your Naturalist guide and visit the Mawamba Park with its butterfly farms, frog gardens, river turtles area and learn about their bio digester conservation project.

Enjoy your buffet lunch between 12:30pm - 14:00pm.

Afternoon guided canal boat tour (included) at Tortuguero National Park. Expect to see many different species of birds, sloths, howler monkeys, turtles, crocodiles and more.

Morning: Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (must-do):

Start early (8:00 am if possible) — wildlife is most active and it’s less crowded.

What to do:

Walk the main trail system (2–3 hours at a relaxed pace)

Visit La Ventana viewpoint (on clear days you can see both coasts!)

Climb the Ficus tree (natural hollow strangler fig you can climb inside)

Look for:

Resplendent quetzal

Howler monkeys

Coatis

Orchids & epiphytes everywhere

Tip: If you love wildlife, hire a naturalist guide. You’ll see 5x more than on your own.

Late Morning: Hanging Bridges (Sky Walk)

Head to:

Sky Adventures or Selvatura Park

Spend 1.5–2 hours walking above the canopy. It’s peaceful, not scary, and gives a totally different perspective of the forest.

If you’re more chill than adventurous, this is perfect.

Lunch in Santa Elena

Head back to town (10–15 min drive).

Afternoon: Pick Your Adventure

Choose depending on your vibe:

Option 1: Ziplining (epic in Monteverde)

Monteverde has some of the best zip lines in Costa Rica.

Some include a Superman-style line where you fly face-first over the forest canopy.

Option 2: Chill + Nature Combo

If you prefer slower pace:

Curi-Cancha Reserve (less crowded, amazing birdwatching)

Butterfly Garden

Bat Jungle (weird but fascinating)

Orchid Garden

Curi-Cancha is especially great if you’re into photography.

Sunset (if skies are clear)

Monteverde sunsets can be stunning when the clouds open up.

Try:

A viewpoint near Santa Elena

Or a hotel bar with mountain views

Optional Night Tour (Highly Recommended)

If you can stretch your “one full day” into evening — do a night wildlife walk.

You might see sloths, tarantulas, tree frogs, sleeping birds, kinkajous...

It’s completely different from daytime and one of the coolest experiences there.

With one free day in Manuel Antonio, start early at Manuel Antonio National Park — hike the rainforest trails, spot monkeys and sloths, and relax at the beautiful white-sand beaches inside the park.

After lunch with an ocean view, spend the afternoon on the water:

A catamaran cruise, snorkeling trip, or even kayaking along the coast. If you prefer something more relaxed, head to Playa Biesanz for a quieter swim and finish the day watching a spectacular Pacific sunset from a hilltop bar or restaurant.
