Description.

Belonging to the Zambezi Queen Collection, each vessel feels more like a private floating hideaway than a cruise. With only four cabins on board, the atmosphere is wonderfully personal, almost as if the river is yours alone. As they glide for up to 50 kilometres along the water, they open up a long ribbon of wilderness to explore. Days unfold through river-based adventures: watching wildlife from the water, spotting vibrant birdlife, trying your hand at catch-and-release fishing, snapping photos from a low angle on the river, or visiting local communities.

Inside, the guest cabins are surprisingly spacious—around 140 square feet—with their own bathrooms, air-conditioning, and wide windows that frame the ever-changing riverscape. The top deck brings everyone together: a relaxed lounge, an airy dining area, a bar stocked with drinks, and a plunge pool that looks out over the water.

What’s included?

Your stay covers everything essential to the experience—meals, soft drinks, water, selected local alcoholic beverages, park and river fees, plus all guided outings—so once you’re on board, all you need to do is unwind.

Our opinion.

From a wildlife perspective, the magic comes from seeing the region from the river itself. Elephants wade at eye level, hippos rise and sink beside the boat, crocodiles bask on the banks, and birdlife flits endlessly across the water. It’s an intimate, calm way to experience a safari: unhurried, scenic, and utterly absorbing.

A journey on a Chobe Princess isn’t just a safari—it’s a gentle drift through one of Southern Africa’s most soulful landscapes.

How to get to Caprivi Strip, Namibia.

To get to Caprivi Strip on an international flight, you would need to land either at Livingstone airport on the Zambian side or, Victoria Falls airport on the Zimbabwean side. Both local airports are just a short flight from Johannesburg.

The time difference between UK and South Africa is minimal (they are two hours ahead of us during our autumn and winter period and just one hour ahead during our spring and summer months). Taking an evening flight from the UK and arriving the next morning into Victoria Falls, particularly if this being your first trip to Africa, will definitely cause a great impression on you!

Best time to visit Caprivi Strip, Victoria Falls National Park and Chobe National Park.

October, November and December months are typically the season when the water levels are at their lowest. If you were planning to visit Victoria Falls around this time, you will be able to fully appreciate the geological formation of the Falls and its full length and scope. From the Zambian side, these months will also be the best for those daring to swim at Devil’s Pool or to enjoy a picnic on the lip of the Falls. Most of the water flows from the “Devil’s Cataract” on the Zimbabwean side.

From February to around April and May is when you will see the greatest flow of the Falls and the spray rises high into the sky so you can expect to get very wet. The aerial views are spectacular at this time of the year. January and February are typically the wettest months.

The best months for game viewing in the Chobe area are June to October, which is their dry season, as wildlife gathers around water holes and by the Chobe River and vegetation will be at its thinnest, making it easier to spot animals in the bush. During summer months ( November to May ), birdlife is very good with the summer migrants to the area. Fishing is also very good, both summer and winter months. September and October are our favourite months to travel to Chobe & Victoria Falls with hardly any rainfall, excellent viewing of the Falls and superb game viewing! This time of the year is also low risk of malaria and malaria tablets are not compulsory but again, you will need to check with your local GP about this prior to your trip.
