Twin centre holidays, tailor-made

UK Specialists in tailor made holidays and honeymoons worldwide since 2010. ATOL protected.

A twin centre holiday combines two destinations in one trip, usually somewhere you explore followed by somewhere you stop. The flights, the connection between the two and every transfer are arranged as a single ATOL-protected booking. We have built them for UK travellers since 2010, from ten nights upwards, starting at £1,395 per person with a £150 deposit.

What is a twin centre holiday?

A twin centre holiday is one trip that visits two places instead of one. In practice that almost always means a destination you travel through and a destination you stay still in: Sri Lanka then the Maldives, Tokyo then Kyoto, New York then the Mexican Caribbean.

It is the most requested shape of holiday we sell, and the reason is simple. Two weeks in one resort is restful and forgettable. Two weeks split between a country and a beach gives you both halves of a holiday, and you come home having seen something.

Twin centre or multi centre?

Twin centre is two stops. Multi centre is three or more.

If it is your first long-haul trip, or you have fewer than fourteen nights, twin centre is almost always the better answer. Three destinations in twelve nights means packing every four days. Two destinations in twelve means you unpack twice and spend the rest of the time on holiday.

How to split the nights

The split matters more than the destinations. Our rules of thumb after fifteen years of doing this:

  • Put the active half first. Touring, cities and driving go at the start, while you still have energy and before the time difference has caught up with you. The beach goes at the end, where it belongs.
  • Never fewer than four nights in either stop. Three nights is one day arriving, one day leaving and one day of actual holiday.
  • Uneven is usually better than even. Seven and five beats six and six on most routes, because the touring half needs the extra day and the beach half does not.
  • Fly home from the second stop. An open-jaw ticket — in through one airport, home from another — costs about the same as a return and saves you a day of backtracking.

Booking, deposits and when to pay

A £150 per person deposit secures your booking and your ATOL certificate is issued the same day. From that moment the price is fixed — no surcharges, whatever happens to fuel or exchange rates. The balance is due ten weeks before you fly.

Book nine to twelve months ahead for school holidays, Christmas and Indian Ocean honeymoons. Four to six months is comfortable for everything else.
