Itinerary
Arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where you will meet your driver for a private transfer to your chosen hotel.
Spend your two days exploring Kuala Lumpur, including the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park, Merdeka Square and Chinatown, with time to enjoy the city's excellent food and shopping.
Make a trip out to the spectacular Batu Caves, then head back into the city for rooftop drinks or dinner with views of Kuala Lumpur's illuminated skyline.
After breakfast, a private transfer takes you back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport for your domestic Malaysia Airlines flight to Sandakan (approximately 2 hours 40 minutes).
On arrival at Sandakan Airport you will be met by our representative and taken on to Sepilok. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.
Meet your guide at around 9am in your hotel lobby and transfer to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre for a guided visit, where you will learn all about the orphaned and injured orangutans that come here to rehabilitate before being released back into the wild.
Witness the 10am feed from a secured platform in the tropical forest, followed by a short video presentation about the centre.
Your next visit is to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, dedicated to the little-known orphaned and injured Malayan sun bears — the world's smallest bears, found only in this part of Malaysia.
Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant (included), then your driver will take you to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary for a close encounter with these monkeys, so typical of Borneo.
You will also visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre and walk the only canopy walkway in Sandakan, suspended 28 metres above the forest floor. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Morning city tour of Sandakan, including Sandakan Memorial Park, the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, St Michael's and All Angels Church, Kampung Buli Sim Sim, the Central Market and Agnes Keith House.
Continue to Bilit in the Kinabatangan River area, home to proboscis monkeys, orangutans, langurs, macaques, estuarine crocodiles, Asian elephants and a wide diversity of birdlife. The drive is very scenic, with multiple stops for photo opportunities.
Lunch and afternoon tea at your lodge (included). A nature guide will accompany you on an afternoon cruise along the Kinabatangan River, a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Dinner is served at your lodge, and an optional night walk with a local guide is available at a small supplement.
An early start to enjoy nature at its best, with a one-hour sunrise cruise at 6am — the finest time of day for wildlife.
Return to your lodge for breakfast, then join your guide for a walk in the jungle.
In the afternoon there is a second cruise along a different stretch of the Kinabatangan River to observe more wildlife, followed by dinner at your lodge.
After breakfast, depart for Ranau via Sabah Tea, where lunch is served surrounded by the tea plantations.
In the afternoon, visit Poring Hot Springs, where you can bathe in the sulphurous waters and walk the canopy walkway high above the rainforest.
After breakfast you head towards Kota Kinabalu, passing rural villages, paddy fields and mountain regions, with glimpses of local life, farms and a few country markets along the way.
Arrive at Kinabalu Park and visit the Botanical Gardens. You will notice the temperature drop and the fresh, cool air in this part of Borneo, thanks to the altitude.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (included) before finishing at your beach hotel.
Enjoy two days of beach relaxation.
Private transfer back to Kota Kinabalu Airport for your flight to Singapore (approximately 3 hours).
Meet your driver at Singapore airport for a private transfer to your confirmed hotel.
Spend two days exploring the best of Singapore at your own pace, from its futuristic skyline to its colourful neighbourhoods. The food scene is superb, and the highlights include Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown and the historic Singapore River.
Explore vibrant Little India or Kampong Glam, sample local dishes at a traditional hawker centre, and finish the evening watching the city lights around Marina Bay.
Today we have arranged your private transfer to Singapore airport for your return flight back home.
