Yangon
Enjoy a city tour of Yangon. Today's Highlights: Shwedagon Pagoda, Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, National Museum, Bogyoke (Scott) Market. The Shwedagon Pagoda is just marvellous! The golden stupa rises 100-metres into the sky and is covered in gold leaf and rubies, and topped with a diamond. This sacred stupa is at its most beautiful during sunset, as the golden stupa reflects the changing colours of twilight. If walls could talk, the gleaming octagonal exterior of the Sule Pagoda could write a bestseller (view from the outside only). Sitting proudly in the centre of the city, it has been the focal point for revolutions and rallies, as well as religious events. You will be visiting both pagodas plus more. And of course, there's time for shopping in the sprawling Bogyoke (Scott) Market, home to a staggering 2000 shops selling everything from souvenirs to snacks.

Yangon - Heho - Kalaw

Today's Highlights: Thein Taung Paya, Aung Chang Tha Zedi, Dhamma Yon, Hsu Taung Pye Paya, Nee Paya.

Morning private transfer to Yangon's airport.

Fly Yangon - Heho (+/- 55 minute flight duration).

Arrive Heho and transfer by vehicle from Heho to Kalaw (+/- 1 hour private road transfer).

Kalaw's lofty location was perfect for a hill station for colonial Brits, and it still retains an atmosphere reminiscent of the colonial era. There's a lot of interesting temples and stupas throughout the town and in the surrounding hills. The hilltop Thein Taung Paya and the glittering stupa of Aung Chang Tha Zedi are two of the most impressive. We will of course, visit these, along with several others.

1-night accommodation in a superior room on B&B basis at Dream Villa Hotel, Kalaw.

5
Kalaw - Inle Lake - Nyaung Shwe

Today's Highlights: Boat trip on Inle Lake, local market, villages, Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery.

By vehicle from Kalaw to Nyaung Shwe (+/- 2 hours by private transfer).

Today you will get to see the famous one-legged rowers on Inle Lake!

This is no ordinary lake though. Inle is an enchanting world of villages on stilts and gardens that float on the surface of the lake. One of the most photographed sights is the skilled Intha fishermen who balance on one leg, while using the other to manoeuvre the oar.

Take a relaxing boat ride across Inle Lake, stopping to see these sights along with some pagodas and lakeside villages.

2-night accommodation in a deluxe room on B&B basis at Amazing Nyaung Shwe Hotel, Nyaung Shwe.
6
Inle Lake, Indein Pagoda Complex
Today's Highlights: Boat to Indein, Inthar Lunch. Transfer to jetty and take a boat ride to Indein pagoda complex. Thousands of mysterious temples and stupas await at the end of a boat ride along a narrow creek cloaked in foliage. Don't forget your camera as this place is otherwordly. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch hosted by Local Inthar Family of Pauk Par Village.
7
Nyaung Shwe - Heho - Mandalay

Today's Highlights: Mahamuni Paya, Shwenandaw Kyaung, Kyauktawgyi Paya, Kuthodaw Paya, Shwe Kyin Old Monastery, craft workshop, Amarapura.

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel for your private transfer to Heho airport.

Take a short flight from Heho to Mandalay (+/- 30-minute short flight).

On arrival at Mandalay, enjoy a city sightseeing. Mandalay, the name alone evokes the romance of old colonial Burma.

Visit Mahamuni Paya, famous for its seated Buddha covered in gold leaf. Wander into a workshop to see muscled workers hand-beating gold leaf with enormous hammers.

At Shwenandaw Kyaung, made entirely out of teak (even though it's also known as the Golden Teak Monastery), you will be able to see the beautifully intricate carvings and so much more incredible sights, and learn tonnes of history about the old kings of Myanmar.

2-night accommodation in a superior room on B&B basis at Hotel Yadanarbon, Mandalay.
8
Mandalay - Mingun - Sagaing - Mandalay

Today's Highlights: Boat to Mingun, Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume Paya, U Bein Bridge.

Just a boat ride away along the Ayeyarwaddy River is the little town of Mingun, which boasts some of the most impressive pagodas in Myanmar.

Mingun Paya ruins are just so extensive, an unfinished site with modern pagodas. Visit the Mingun Bell, a 13-foot tall bronze bell.

Visit Sagaing, known as Myanmar's spiritual centre. Also known as a 'living Bagan', it is home to hundreds of stupas, monasteries, temples and nunneries. Visit some of the most famous temples, especially, on and around Sagaing Hill.

In the evening, visit U-Bein's Bridge for sunset. The shallow Taungthaman Lake is crossed by a famous 1.2 km long weathered teak footbridge (longest teak bridge in the world) known as the U Bein Bridge, curved to withstand the wind and waves.

9
Mandalay - Mount Popa
Today's Highlights: Mount Popa. In the morning, transfer by vehicle to Mount Popa. Watch out for the monkeys at Mount Popa, an iconic sight, an extinct sheer-sided volcano that rises out of the plain. Topped by golden stupas, it is a famous pilgrimage site for locals who come to worship at the Nat temples. Walk to the top via the winding staircase watched by mischievous monkeys hoping to be fed. 1-night accommodation in a deluxe garden view room on B&B basis at Popa Mountain Resort, Mount Popa.
10
Mount Popa - Bagan

Today's Highlights: Shwezigon Paya, Gubyaukhyi Temple at Wetkyi-Inn, Ananda Pahto, Gubyaukhyi Temple at Myinkaba, Manuha Temple, Shwesandaw Paya.

Today, proceed to Bagan, a true bucket-list destination!

Thousands of crumbling temples, pagodas and stupas rise from the ancient desert plain. These beautiful, other-worldly structures were built by the kings of Bagan in the 11th and 12th centuries. Words don't do this incredible landscape justice so let's get out there and see them for ourselves.

2-night accommodation in a standard room on B&B basis at Zfreeti Hotel, Bagan.

11
Bagan

Today's Highlights: Mahabodhi Temple, Dhamayangi Temple, Sulamani Temple, Nandamannya Temple, Thatbyinnyu Temple.

Locals believe that the Dhamayangi Temple is haunted.

Legends and stories surround the colossal temple, telling of a cruel king, murder and bloodshed. Let's explore its long narrow corridors and come to our conclusions...

Visit many other of the Bagan temples. While we can't promise they all have such colourful pasts, we do guarantee that they are just as impressive and beautiful.

Take a break from the rhythms of modern life and explore some neighbouring temples in an old-fashioned horse drawn buggy in the evening at sunset. (The duration of the horse ride is approximately 1 hour only).

12
Bagan - Yangon
Transfer by air conditioned vehicle to the Nyaung U airport. Take an flight from Bagan to Yangon (+/- 1 hour 20 minutes flight duration). On arrival, visit the colonial downtown part of Yangon. Continue to Emmanuel Baptist Church, High Court (formerly known as the Parliament for Justice), Mahabandoola Park and City Hall. End of the tour at Sule point.
