After breakfast at your hotel, you will enjoy a guided tour of the fishing town of Negombo, visiting its most interesting sights and learning more about this charming destination.

Highlights of the tour include the historic Hamilton Canal, Negombo Lagoon and St Mary’s Church.

In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to relax and make the most of the beautiful beach.

Today, you will travel by private chauffeur-driven vehicle to Anuradhapura and Mihintale, two of Sri Lanka’s most important historical sites and the birthplace of Buddhism in the country. These are sure to be fascinating and memorable visits.

The total driving time between today’s destinations will be approximately four hours. However, as you will be stopping along the way for sightseeing visits, the overall journey will take a little longer.

You will still have the afternoon free to relax and enjoy the beautiful hotel included in this itinerary.

Today you will be visiting one of the highlights of your trip to Sri Lanka: Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your visit to Sigiriya starts with a walk through the ancient gardens before you begin the climb to the top. There are around 1,200 steps, but you can take your time and stop along the way to see the famous frescoes, the Mirror Wall and the Lion’s Gate. Once you reach the top, you’ll see the ruins of the old royal palace and enjoy some amazing views over the surrounding countryside.

Continue your journey to Polonnaruwa in the afternoon and enjoy a guided tour of the Ancient City.

Return to hotel for the evening.

Today, you’ll visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, a really interesting place built into the side of a huge rock. Inside the caves, you’ll see lots of Buddha statues, colourful paintings covering the walls and ceilings, and some beautiful little shrines. It’s a very different and memorable place to explore.

On the way to Kandy, you’ll stop at a spice garden and a batik factory, where you can learn a little more about the spices, scents and traditional fabrics Sri Lanka is famous for.

Arrive in Kandy and afternoon free at leisure.

After breakfast your driver will take you to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The transfer will take approximately an hour and a half.

Young elephants that have been orphaned or separated from their herds are very well looked after at this place. You’ll get the chance to see them up close and watch them bathing in the river. You might be able to feed them as well.

Return to Kandy in the afternoon for a private city tour visiting local markets and even the Gem Museum. Later in the evening you will be visiting the highlight of Kandy which is the Temple of the Tooth located inside the old royal palace complex and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The day finishes with a traditional cultural dance show, with colourful costumes, music and performances showcasing Sri Lankan traditions.

Today you’ll travel to Peradeniya to visit its famous Botanical Gardens.

Later, your driver will continue towards Nuwara Eliya, stopping along the way at a tea plantation and a tea factory. Here, you’ll see how Sri Lanka’s famous tea is grown and produced and hopefully get the chance to try a cup too!

Terminate at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya in the afternoon. Rest of the day to relax at your hotel and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Nuwara Eliya is a pretty town surrounded by tea-covered hills. It’s often known as “Little England” because of its cooler climate and charming colonial-style buildings.

After breakfast, depart for Yala National Park. This private road transfer will take approximately five hours by road.

Enjoy this scenic drive around Ella, a small hill town known for its green landscapes, peaceful atmosphere and beautiful mountain scenery.

Once you arrive, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy some free time.

You’ll start the day with an early morning safari in Yala National Park.

Your lodge will have a packed breakfast to take with you on your early morning Safari.

Yala is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see wildlife so keep your eyes open for elephants, monkeys, colourful birds and, with a bit of luck, one of its famous leopards.

Morning private transfer to Colombo, a journey of around five hours, with a stop in Galle along the way.

You’ll have some time to explore Galle, a lovely historic city on Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Wander through the charming streets, admire the old colonial buildings and visit the famous Galle Fort, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today you will be driven to Colombo airport for your direct short flight to Male, capitol of Maldives.

On arrival, you will transfer to your Island Resort by speedboat.
